Today I’m thinking about songs. This morning I tuned into a radio station and I heard a song from my high school days. Yes, it was even a self-professed oldies station. Ouch, that hurt me to hear them say it. Before the lyrics even started I knew the song. The memories that can go with a song! Things you haven’t thought about for years have a way of coming back. Music can be like a key to a forgotten door. Songs and music are a part of who we are. Even if you aren’t a music person you still probably chime in when the family is singing Happy Birthday.
Think about your songs, your radio stations, your MP3’s . . . . what are some of your favorites? Can I ask you to share one more thing? Tell us why they are your favorites.
Years ago I buried a nine day old son. A few days later a college chorus sang at our church. It was my first venture out of the house since the burial. The first song they sang was "It Is Well With My Soul". I wanted to run away, I wanted to shut it out. Nothing was well with my soul right them. I stayed, I listened, I was meant to be there. The song continues to resonate with me today. I know, no matter what, God is in control of it all and He loves me. He will never forsake me. ~CR
