Preacher +

I’m sitting here thinking of some of the +’s of being a preacher:

• Knowing what the sermon is about before everyone else.
• Seeing someone’s face when you tell them what kind of job you have.  (This is especially fun when they have just finished cussing about politics or their in-laws.)
• Being married to the preacher’s wife.
• Having so many opportunities to share the greatest story ever told.
• Getting my choice of parking spots (on Monday morning . . . at the office . . . before anyone else gets here).
• Having your kids tell you they like being the preacher’s kids.
• Having a good reason to own a lot of books.
• Sharing in some of the greatest moments in people’s lives.
• Being able to help people in some of the terrible moments of life.
• Getting ties for gifts and then having a reason to wear them.
