Ministry TOW

451168_50937065I have learned a few things.  I learned early on that licking a 9-volt does funny things to the end of your tongue.  I learned that riding a skateboard is much easier than it looks.  I learned that high school would have been more fun if I knew then what I know now.

I’m also learning a few things.  People have stories to tell.  When you learn those stories, you learn about the story-teller.  People have dreams.  Some will share those early, others will keep them as quiet as possible.  People have diverse hobbies.  One will love the outdoors, another will love the indoors.  One will have fun at the mall, one will have fun at garage sales.

Learning is a huge part of ministry.  “Knowing it all” may be expected by some, but it is rarely the reality.  In coming weeks I’ll share a Ministry Tip of the Week (TOW).  It will be those things that I’ve heard, learned or practiced.  Those things that I believe can help us share with others that message from heaven.  In return, share your tips – after this post, after a Ministry TOW, or anytime!

  1. I'm in a Beth Moore series now, James, Mercy Triumphs! In the first chapter, James encourages us to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. I listen pretty well and I don't have anger issues, BUT - when someone else is talking I'm already thinking about what I'm going to say and I can't wait to say it! Beth Moore says this is a problem for her too. She said that she loves to learn and the only way to learn when someone is talking is to listen intently! That's my tip! If you want to learn then listen intently to what the other person is saying! It's a new years resolution in my life! ~cr

  2. cr,
I'm with you and Beth. I try to remember the "You have two ears and one mouth so listen twice as much" saying. It's hard sometimes. Great tip!! Thanks for sharing and I pray you'll find success in your resolution!
